ALBANY- Edward (Ned) Hawley, 91 of Albany died Thursday February 16, 2006 at St. Peters Nursing & Rehab Center after a long illness.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Frederick Hawley and Margaret Pauley. Ned was a graduate of Albany High School and a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corp as a sergeant. He was employed by Freihofer Baking Co. for many years both as a routeman and in the sales office. He was a lifelong communicant of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was predeceased in 1987 by his beloved wife Phyllis who celebrated 41 years of marriage with him.
Ned epitomized the word gentleman and will be deeply missed by his son, David (Kathy) Hawley of Latham; daughter Sue (Joe) Quagleri of Guilderland and his cherished grandchildren Kristen Hawley of Latham, Jeffrey Hawley of Cleveland, OH, Nicholas and Breanna Quagleri of Guilderland. He is also survived by his sister Ruth Poggelt of W. Caldwell, NJ and his beloved special friend Helen Benedetto of Albany and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend funeral services on Monday at 10:15 am at the funeral home with burial following at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery.
