Edward Grey, July 13, 1931-March 12, 2015
Edward Grey, son of Ernest Garner Grey and Blanche Grey (Gregoire), was born in Potterville, NY. He grew up in Pottersville and graduated from Pottersville Central School in 1948. After graduating from Long Island Agricultural College in Farmingdale NY, he attended Tri State College in Angola Indiana, where he studied Civil Engineering.
In 1952, he joined the Naval Reserve in Glens Falls NY. He was called to active duty service in the Korean conflict, serving as a SeaBee. He was discharged in 1955.
After the war, he worked in the building construction industry as a carpenter and draftsman, eventually rising to become a Project Manager. He worked for several local companies, including MLB, McGrath Industries and Beltrone Construction. He retired in 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Grey (Dunham), two children, Ernie and Priscilla, and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Scott in 1996.
He loved the Adirondack Mountains, Pottersville, Schroon Lake and Schroon River. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and geneology.
Calling hours will be held from noon until two pm on Sunday, March 22 at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Colonie NY, a reception will follow at The Polish Community Center, on Washington Ave. Ext. from 2:00-4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Parkinson's or Alzheimer's Associations
