COLONIE- Edward J. (Gummer) Hotaling Sr., 73, of Colonie, passed away on Thursday July 3, 2008 at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late William and Emma Hotaling Sr.
Edward as a US Navy veteran during the Korean War. He was a meat cutter at Price Chopper for forty seven years, retiring n 2002. Ed was a life member of the Midway Fire Department and had served in many capacities, including President, Chaplain, and Commissioner. He was proud of many years of service and dedication with the Fire Department as well as the numerous friendships he formed through the years. Ed enjoyed bowling, painting and fishing.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Arlene Arthur Hotaling; his children Sandra (Donald Jr.) Frey, and Edward J. Hotaling Jr.. He is the brother of Richard Hotaling, Ann Rose, James (Karen) Hotaling and the late William, Joan and Francis Hotaling. He is the cherished grandfather of Erica and Marc Frey; Rachel, Daniel and Edward Hotaling III. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services with full Departmental Honors will be Monday morning at 11:00 at NewComer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave).
