CLIFTON PARK – Edward J. Weiss, 79, formerly of Albany, passed away on Friday October 4, 2013 at Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Michael and Rose Kelly Weiss. Ed was predeceased by his beloved wife of 42 years, Carol Neth Weiss and his brother Rev. Nicholas Weiss O.F. M.
He retired in 1993 as a Supervisor with New York State Department of Motor Vehicle Title Bureau. Ed enjoyed fishing and flying his remote control airplanes. He was a member of the Thundervolts and the Flying Knights. He also enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida for many years.
Our Father will be remembered as a devoted and loyal caregiver to our Mother as she struggled with breast cancer for close to ten years. Together they endured endless trips to doctors as well as countless travels to North Carolina for treatment in her cancer experimental program that she had participated in.
Ed is the devoted father of Kathleen (Stephen) Kenney and Michael (Susan) Weiss. He is the cherished grandfather of Kristin and Kimberlyn Kenney, Caroline and Samuel Weiss. He is the dear friend of Betty Jean Durante and her family. The family would like to offer their sincere thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff at Evergreen Commons and in particular, to Hope Reed for her kind and compassionate care.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Edward J. Weiss.
