Loudonville – Edward Powell Malia Sr. passed away at St. Peter's Hospital on Saturday April 12, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, he is the son of the late Peter A. Malia, Sr. and Dorothy Powell Malia.
Edward was an alumnus of St. Francis of Assisi School, Xavier High School, and Georgia Institute of Technology. Following high school Edward proudly enlisted in The United States Army and served his country during The Korean War. After graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology, he began his career with Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam, NY and Greenville, MS. He was an active member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in both cities and was named " Young Man of the Year" in 1964. Malia moved to Broadalbin, NY in the1960s where he was a Rotarian, volunteer fireman, Little Giants football coach, and served on the Board of Education. A resident of Loudonville since 1981, Malia retired from the NYS Department of Transportation in 1997.
Edward is survived by his wife of 34 years, Susan Rossi Constantine, his children; Kelly (Tommy) Williams, Ted (Kate) Malia, Kate (Craig) Flore, his step-daughter Jennifer Constantine, grandchildren; Charles Williams, Alexis Smith, Graham Malia, Sophie Malia, Quinton Flore, Aidan Malia, Theodore Flore, and Caroline Flore, four step-grandchildren, and eight step-greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Rosemary Malia, four nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Edward was predeceased by his brother Peter A. Malia, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Edward on Wednesday April 16th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville. Interment will be at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
