Edward J. Mallgraf Jr., of Johnsonville (formerly of Guilderland), passed away August 16, 2005 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital with his family by his side.
. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Edward and Anna (Schnurr) Mallgraf. Ed married Mary (Dempsey) Mallgraf in 1954, they settled in Brooklyn and began their family. During the next ten years Ed and Mary added five new faces to the world – Deborah, Gary, Scott, Lori and Edward. They also achieved the dream of buying their first home.
In 1965, Ed's job with the Mobil Oil Corp. was transferred to Albany. Ed, Mary and the children moved upstate to the town of Guilderland, where they moved into their new home. (A home they stayed in for over 35 years). Ed worked for Mobil for over 37 years. He made many friends there who, throughout his illness, demonstrated their deep regard time and time again. These men have our eternal gratitude.
In addition to working for Mobil, Ed at times took on second and even third jobs to support his family. His hard work and sacrifice will be forever remembered and appreciated.
In 2003, Ed and Mary made a long time dream come true. They moved to their new home on 20 acres in Johnsonville. Ed took great pleasure watching wildlife and taking in the beautiful views of the fields and forests.
He loved sharing stories, laughing, and being in the company of friends and family. He was also a great lover of music, a gifted saxophone player, and quite a swing dancer.
Ed celebrated two great milestones in the past year-his 50th wedding anniversary with Mary and his 75th birthday.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Dempsey) Mallgraf of Johnsonville, his five children – Deborah (Mallgraf) D'Angelo of Johnsonville (formerly of Corinth), Gary Mallgraf of Pittstown, Scott Mallgraf of Cape Cod, Lori (Mallgraf) Brannigan of Loudonville and Edward Mallgraf of Loudonville. His surviving brother and sister are Richard Mallgraf of Mesquite, NV and Joan (Mallgraf) Lisa of Ridge, NY. He is also survived by five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
We all have been privileged to have our lives graced with the presence of such a kind and loving man
