TROY, NY – Edward P. Dinan, 81, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Northwoods at Troy, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late William and Helen Dinan. Ed lived in Troy for all of his life. He was a graduate of Troy High School and attended Barrytown Institute. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Ed was Troy City Clerk and Urban Renewal Director, and more recently he worked for Robinson's Furniture in Schenectady from where he retired. He was past president of the Spiegeltown Elders. Ed enjoyed traveling and loved to make people laugh. He especially loved spending time with his family. Ed is the beloved husband of 60 years to Margaret M. (Goetz) Dinan. He is the devoted father of Michael (Judy) and Timothy (Sue) Dinan, Mary (Jack) Dinan-Waugh, Jude Ann and Martin (Katrina) Dinan, Katria (Mark) Hitrick and the late Paul C. Dinan. Also surviving are thirteen cherished grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his sisters, Marion Clifford and Marjorie Hooley. Ed's family would like to thank the staff and residents at Northwoods at Troy for all of their care and compassion during this difficult time.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, Troy. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 in memory of Edward P. Dinan.
