Edward G. Synfelt

Edward G. Synfelt, 81, of Rotterdam and also a winter resident of Hallandale Beach, FL, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Born in Schenectady on August 14, 1936, Edward was the son of the late Stephen and Mabel (Wasniewski) Synfelt and brother of the late Robert Synfelt.

Edward was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, class of 1954.

The majority of his career was with the General Electric Co, holding positions of increasing responsibility, retiring as project and development specialist in 1997.

Edward was awarded many honors from G.E. for his designs, his creative engineering solutions and patents.

Ed was an avid golfer and ran an Elks Club golf league for many years. He also participated in all kinds of sports, running, darts, biking, fast pitch softball. And we have the trophies to prove it... Big Ed was one of the original D.I.Y'ers and was frequently sought out for his leadership and problem solving skills.


Survived by his longtime very significant other, Carol Holloway, his children; Ken Synfelt, Donna (Kevin) Cuomo, Susan (Steve) McDonald and Shelley (Bill) Hoffman, as well as former wife Muriel Conto. Step-children; Dawn (Pete) Petruccione and Timothy (Corrine) Holloway. His grandchildren; Riley Mathauer, Matthew Cuomo, Shauna McDonald, Ethan McDonald, David Cuomo, Jake Hoffman, Brett Hoffman. Step grandchildren; Mara Petruccione, Matthew Petruccione, Emily Petruccione, Shea Holloway and Skye Holloway.

Also survived by nephews Bob and Jeff Synfelt.

Relatives and friends may call 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Wednesday, June 20th at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, where funeral services will commence at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
