LOUDONVILLE – Edward W. Carey, 90, of Loudonville, formerly of Middletown, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday January 30, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Narrowsburg, NY and was the son of the late Charles and Vivian Carey. Ed attended the Callicoon Seminary in Pennsylvania and had been a Franciscan Brother for twenty years. He worked as a lineman for New York Telephone and was later employed at Orange County Community College until his mid eighties.

Ed is the devoted brother of Mary Rutzky. He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Marie Kaye. He is the beloved uncle of Marianne (Alan) Williams, Peggy (Gene) Stryjek and Rosanne (Tom) McKee. He is also survived by many grand niece and nephews (Dawson).

Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 5 to 7 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 at the Chapel of St. Pius X Church, Loudonville. Interment will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Narrowsburg, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the NENY Alzheimer's Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205.
