NISKAYUNA – Edward W. Handy, 55, passed away tragically on Saturday, May 2, 2009. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Edward and Emma (Van Epps) Handy. Ed was a Colonie resident for all of his life. He was currently working for I.A.A. (Insurance Auto Auction), formerly ADESA Impact. Ed was an avid Harley Davidson motorcyclist and a member of the Albany/Schenectady Harley Owners Group, where he participated in many charity rides. He was a stockcar racer, NASCAR fan and also enjoyed fishing. Ed is the beloved husband of almost thirty years to Debbie A. (Landon) Handy. He is the devoted father of Katherine Handy VanDerlofske and her husband, Matthew and Joseph Handy. Ed is the cherished brother of Raymond B. (Karen) Van Epps, Judith Lasher and CarolAnn (David) Lewis. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Funeral services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Edward J. Handy.
