Ballston Lake – Edward F. "Eddie" Walkowicz Jr., 51, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 6, 2014 at Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's with his beloved wife Karen by his side. Born in Schenectady, he is the son of Joyce (Decell) Walkowicz and the late Edward F. Walkowicz, Sr.
Eddie was employed by The Daily Gazette for more than 20 years as a machine operator. His hobbies included riding his motorcycle, fixing cars, going to antique car shows and tinkering around the house. He also enjoyed spending time at Indian Ladder, Thatcher Park. Eddie had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his dog Angelo, and also volunteered as a dog walker for many years at the Saratoga County Animal Shelter.
In addition to his mother, Eddie is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years Karen J Walkowicz; his cherished daughters, Amanda N. Walkowicz and Megan E. Walkowicz; and his sisters, Beth (Jim) Aviza and Sharon (David) Riley. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held for Eddie on Friday July 11th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 231 2nd St. Scotia, NY. All are invited and welcome to attend.
The family would like to thank Kelli Foley from Hospice who moved mountains on a holiday weekend to get Eddie into Hospice Inn at St. Peters. You are truly an Angel on this earth. Special thanks to the nurses at Hospice Inn at St. Peters, Linda, Sally and Sharon, you took such amazing care of my husband and myself, you truly do God's work everyday, and you are His special Angels on this earth.
