Edwin J. Barbagallo Sr.

Albany- Edwin J. Barbagallo Sr., 65, entered into eternal life on July 5th after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Gaeton and Agnes (Bendelski) Barbagallo. He is the beloved husband of 40 years to Anne Marie (Milgo) and the devoted father of Edwin J. Barbagallo Jr. and Michael W. Barbagallo. He is the brother of John Barbagallo and William (Heather) Barbagallo and the late Thomas (Anna) Barbagallo and Lillian Kelly; and his Italian brother Sebastian Cannistraci. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Ed was a graduate of Albany High School. He was employed at General Electric and retired in 1996, after 32 years. He was a machinist in the motor department, served as shop stewart, board member and on the safety committee. He belonged to the Albany Elks for many years, his father being Exalted Ruler at one time, he later joined the Colonie Elks. He enjoyed camping with his sons, hunting, fishing, and antique shopping with his wife. He also enjoyed having a beer or glass of wine with his friends and planting his vegetable garden. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful nurses at NYOH and hospice especially Robaire and many thanks to Robert. Heartfelt thanks to all his friends who came to sit and visit with him to the very end.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 9:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie then to Christ Our Light Church,1 Maria Drive, Loudonville at 10:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at the funeral home. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Edwin J. Barbagallo Sr.
