NEW SCOTLAND – Edwin L. "Roy" Snyder, 79, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Edwin was born on September 1, 1933 in Plainfield, NJ and was the son of the late Edwin and Olive B. (Medick) Snyder. He served his country proudly, first in the US Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955 and then he retired from the Navy with the rank of E6. He worked and retired from the Guilderland School District after 15 years of service. He enjoyed John Deere tractors and tending to his yard and garden's.

Edwin is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Rose Mary E. (Pomakoy) Snyder; his loving children, son, Wayne (Carrie) Snyder and stepsons, Jeffrey (Mary) LaPorte and Douglas (Sharon) LaPorte; his cherished granddaughter, Christina (Robert) LaPierre; his siblings, Janet (George) Pomakoy, Betty Pomakoy, Robert (Carol) Snyder and Richard (Gloria) Snyder; his sister-in-law, MaryAnn Snyder and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, William Snyder and his nephew, Christopher Snyder.

A graveside committal service with military honors will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 12 noon at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville. Anyone wishing to follow in procession to the cemetery should meet at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Edwin L. Snyder.
