Efferia Mabry Whaley

ALBANY – Efferia Mabry Whaley, 87, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2012 at Albany Memorial Hospital.

Efferia was born on September 7, 1925 in Hobgood, NC and was the daughter of the late William and Caroline (Joyner) Mabry. She was also predeceased by her husband, Christopher Whaley and her son, Michael Fields. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marian Fields; her grandchildren, Michael Fields, Marleen Fields (Devon Jones), Marc Fields, and Celeste Raysor; her cherished great grandchildren, Markia, Miyona, Maneif, Mickyra, Markeyona, Ahunglique, Devon, Marc, and Chakerra; her cherished great great grandchildren, El-Hajj and Mický; her special niece, Sheila Washington-Hueston and several other nieces and nephews.

Efferia was an LPN for Queens General Hospital for many years before retiring. She was a faithful member of the Calvary AME Zion Church and was a member of the Sisterhood. She loved to travel and loved to take care of people. She also enjoyed watching movies with her dear friend, Jackie Raysor.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
