Eileen A. Littrell, 81, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully at home on January 29, 2022 with her family by her side.
Born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin in August 1940, she was the daughter of the late Jackson and Dorothy Littrell. The family moved to Schenectady and Eileen graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1958. She then attended St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1961 as a registered nurse. Eileen worked in the St. Clare's Hospital emergency room for several years and also for the Schalmont school district. After leaving the nursing field, she was later called to social work, obtaining a Bachelor's Degree from the College of St. Rose (graduating magna cum laude) and then a Master's Degree from Columbia University when she was 52. Eileen worked in New York City for 10 years before returning to Schenectady. In retirement, she volunteered and enjoyed crafting and making homemade greeting cards that she shared with her family and friends.
Eileen is survived by her children Peter (Stacy) Frisoni, Jr. of Glenville and Maria (Tom) Ritz of Colonie, her grandchildren Anna, Kevin, Cameron, Dylan, Mia, Nathan and Carina, her siblings Janice (Dr. Andy) Moore of Georgia, Dottie Gallo-Vojnar (Bill) of Esperance, Joseph (Ginny) Markiewicz of Clifton Park, and Stephen (Donna) Markiewicz of Guilderland, and several nieces and nephews.
Eileen's family would like to thank Community Hospice of Schenectady for its wonderful care and support, especially Laura, Tara, Kristen, and Janet.
Services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at The Church of St. Clare, 1947 Central Avenue, Colonie. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and a funeral mass at 11 a.m. Internment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, North Brandywine Avenue, Schenectady.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, Joan Nicole Prince Home in Scotia, Schenectady City Mission, and the Animal Protective Foundation in Glenville.
