Elaine J. Cerne

Schenectady- Elaine J. Cerne, 82, wife of Gerald J. Cerne passed away August 5, 2023 at home. Born July 4, 1941 in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Veronica Urban.

Elaine graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Amsterdam, New York and from Becker Junior College in Worcester, Massachusetts. She worked for over 30 years in various schools within the Schenectady City School District.

Elaine enjoyed spending time at her summer home in Galway, N.Y. She could always be found on Sunset Beach chitchatting and laughing with her friends and family. Her laugh was infectious and unforgettable, and she always had a wonderful smile on her face. It was obvious that her family was her top priority and made each and every one of us feel important and special.

Elaine is survived by her Loving husband, of 62 years Gerald. Children, Michael (Holly) of Reno, Nevada, Diana (Michael) Cunningham of Nashua, New Hampshire. Maryanne Hammond of Schenectady, New York. Grandchildren Timothy of Washington D.C., Kate (Graham) of San Francisco, California, Sarah of Seattle, Washington, Hannah of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Megan, Abigail, Erin, Lucas, all of Nashua, New Hampshire and Emily of Schenectady, New York.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass on August 9,2023 at 11:00am at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany Street, Schenectady, NY
