Albany- Elaine R. (Carmello) Scaccia, 88, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center with her loving family by her side. Elaine was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ida (Proskin) Carmello and was the devoted wife of the late John Scaccia.
Elaine was the Matriarch of the Carmello family. Elaine was a proud graduate of the Philip Schuyler High School, with the class of 1946. She was very family oriented, holding the family together after her late father's passing. She was known as a great cook, and was a lover of music and singing.
Elaine is survived by her siblings: Jeanette (James) DeMarco, Joseph (the late Carol) Carmello, William (Judith) Carmello, and Ronald (Joan) Carmello; 27 nieces and nephews; 47 great nieces and nephews; 16 great-great nieces and nephews; and many other extended family members such as cousins and in-laws.
In addition to her late beloved husband and parents, Elaine is predeceased by her brothers: John (Nancy) Carmello, Francis Carmello, and Thomas Carmello; sisters: Dolores Murphy, and Joan (Bob) Maud.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, on Sunday September 18th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 19th, at Christ the King Church.
