Elaine Whitehead

Elaine Whitehead, entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 20, 2012 after a short illness at St. Peter's Hospice Inn with her loving family at her side.
Elaine was born in Albany on October 17, 1953 to the late Ralph and Eleanor Baird. She was educated in the City School District of Albany, graduated from Phillip Schuyler High School and received her Bachelor's degree from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs. She worked for over 30 years for the State of New York, primarily with the office of General Services, until her retirement in 2009.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Dorsey M. Whitehead, her daughter, Karrice M. Bowen, her siblings, Murray E. Baird (Susan), Lorraine Brown Frierson (Terry), Rhonda Brown (Jerome, Sr.) and Gail Baird all of Albany. She also leaves to cherish her memory her three stepsons, Dorsey W, Darryl W and Dwight D. Whitehead, two special daughters, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren, nine nieces and nephews, twenty-six great-nieces and nephews,. She also leaves behind a host of family and friends and very special sister-friends.

Special thanks to her dear close friends and family for their love and compassion. Also gratitude and thanks to the doctors and staff of St. Peters Hospital, 6 McCauley and the Hospice Inn for their timeless efforts, care and dedication.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 27, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church 26 Wilson Ave., Albany. Calling hours will precede the service from 10 to 12:30 at the church. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Park.
