Elbert Lee Crenshaw, 80, passed away, Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Elbert was born October , 18, 1935 to the late Gennie V. and Levy Crenshaw in Greenville, Alabama. He was educated in the Greenville School District and the New York City School System. Elbert was a 1974 graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College where he earned a degree in Substance Abuse Counseling.
Elbert joined the US Army when he was 18 years old. He served in both Korea and Vietnam Wars. He severed for a total of twenty- seven years, as both active duty and as a reservist. Elbert was employed by the Stratton Veterans Hospital, where he retired in 2010, after fifty-four years of outstanding service. He was also employed by the NYS Office of General Services for twenty years.
Elbert moved to Albany, New York in 1959. In 1960, he united in marriage with Arsola "Doll" Jackson. To that union three children were born; Patricia Crenshaw, Tobias (Joyce) Crenshaw and Adore "Dorie" (Ocatvius) Crenshaw-Mills.
Elbert enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, traveling and spending time with his family. He loved telling stories and jokes. He often reminisced about his life experiences and could always be counted on to share words of wisdom and advice.
Elbert is also survived by his daughters, Francine (Darrious) Crenshaw- Brock and Felicya Tunstall- Crenshaw, a son Kenneth "Elbert" Crenshaw, his brothers, Johnnie Crenshaw and Eddie Mitchner, sisters Jeanette Crenshaw, Rosa Crenshaw, Ollie Mae McNeil, Marry Ellis, Francine Hasama. Also mourning his loss are his aunts, Bessie Coleman, Dorothy Scott, thirty two grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and host of in laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

n addition to his parents, Elbert is also predeceased by his brothers, Clifford Crenshaw, Joel Crenshaw and Hazelle Crenshaw, great grandchildren, Nevets Hammonds and Phaizon Mills.
Calling hours will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church, 26 Wilson Ave, Albany on Friday, February 19,2016 from 10:00am-11:00am. A funeral service will follow from 11:00am-12:30pm. Interment with full military honors will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
