Eldon R. Stanton

Schenectady- Eldon R. Stanton, 97, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2017 at Capital Living Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady. Born on March 27, 1920 in Schenectady, NY Eldon was the son of the late Clarence and Emma (Storie) Stanton. He served his country during World War II as a gunner in the Army Air Force. During his service he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was married to Marjorie A. (Hayes) Stanton for 70 years. She predeceased him in 2015. Eldon spent his career at General Electric in Schenectady.
Eldon is survived by his children: Barbara Jean (Lawrence) Shepard, David (Beverly) Stanton, Carol (William) Brown-Dawson, Randy Stanton, Douglas (Tina) Stanton; his grandchildren: Mike (Lori), Jeff, Lori (Dennis), Kris (Jeff), Doug 'DJ', Tyler (Lauren), and Delaney; his great-grandchildren: Ryan, Sarah, Conner, Jeffrey, Emily, and Lizzy, and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be from 10am to 11am on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.
