Eleanor C. Cazzato

Eleanor C. Cazzato of Colonie died peacefully on her 73rd birthday, Thursday, October 26, 2017, after a bout with cancer. Eleanor was the daughter of Raymond and Lucy (Capasso) Velten. She was the devoted wife of Ottavio Cazzato for 52 years.

Eleanor graduated from Vincentian Institute in Albany. She and her husband owned and operated Ottavio's Tailor Shop in Colonie for many years. Earlier in her career, she worked at the NYS OGS and departments of Labor and Parole.


Eleanor loved to explore new places. She traveled around the United States and to dozens of countries overseas. In recent years, she and Ottavio enjoyed the winter months in South Beach, Miami. She had a talent for cooking that she enjoyed sharing with family and friends.


Survivors include her husband Ottavio Cazzato, sons Christopher Cazzato (Donna) and Tony Cazzato (Kathleen), sister Joyce Conaway, and grandchildren Juliana, Joseph, Marco, and Maria.


Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Friday November 3, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Avenue, Colonie on Saturday November 4, 2017 at 9:00 am. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
