Albany – Eleanor Lee, 89, passed away Wednesday March 10, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn.
Eleanor was born in Albany, NY one of the fourteen daughters of Warren and Minnie (Boel) Finkle. Minnie emigrated from Hilversum, Holland, having passed through Ellis Island in 1910. Eleanor enjoyed decorating, fashion, and old movies. She was also a member of the Colonie Elks for many years. Her greatest passion was for her family. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 and a half years, Gordon Lee, in 1986.
Eleanor is survived by her one daughter, B. Patricia Galea of Bolton Landing, NY (her buddy); five sisters: Loretta McClarin, Ruth Prescott, Florence Dipofi , Joyce Diffenback, and Lois Finkle; two grandchildren: Raymond Kalendek of Albany, NY and Michele (Kalendek ) Schoeller and her husband Ken of Palmdale, CA, five great grandchildren, Nick, Tiffany, Ray Jr., Ashley, and Elizabeth, as well as many nieces and nephews; three of whom were very close and helpful in her later years, Jean VanEpps, Lisa Diffenback, and Tom Govel.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rte 155 south of Central Ave.) Calling hours will be held Tuesday 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to The Peter G.
