COLONIE – Eleanor M. Roberts, 96, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Rosewood Gardens in East Greenbush.
Eleanor was born on January 21, 1913 in Schenectady and was the daughter of the late Howard and Grace (Lape) Lemley. She worked as an assistant chemical laboratory technician for Winthrop Stearns in Rensselaer for over 20 years; she then worked for Albany Medical Center Hospital in the medical records department before retiring in 1978. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing pinochle, knitting, crocheting and taking bus trips. She was a volunteer at the Albany Veterans Hospital.
Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Alice Lansing of Colonie and Jean (Richard) VanValkenburg of Ravena; her sister, Rose Sluus of Rensselaer; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Jayne Almy; her sister, Doris Pitcher and her brother, Charles Lemley.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). A calling hour will precede the service from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Memory's Garden in Colonie.
