Eleanor Agnes Jane Maynard

Maynard, Eleanor Agnes Jane (McNaughton) passed peacefully on
December 23, 2019, with her daughters, Ellie and Lucy, by her side.

Eleanor was the daughter of the late Robert J. McNaughton and Lucy A. Kashuba- McNaughton. She was the wife of the late Alfred Emanuel Maynard, the love of her life. They were married, upon his return from WWII, and remained married for 37 years. They had four children: Lucy Maynard-Carbonello (Joe), Alfred R. Maynard (Renate), the late Joseph J. Maynard, Sr. (Bonnie), and Eleanor (Ellie) A. Maynard.

Eleanor is survived by her grandchildren, Steven Maynard (Leah), Stephanie Maynard-Waters (Tom), Joseph J. Maynard, Jr. (April), Jaime Wylie-Reisinger, Heather Wylie-Bass (Vincent), and Kimberly Wylie. She was blessed to have great grandchildren Holden and Ian, Braedon, Joseph and Laciemay, Joshua and Kelsey Reisinger, and Ginger Bass.

The family wishes to greatly thank and extend appreciation and gratitude to Eleanor's dedicated, at home Personal Care Assistants for providing her with care, which provided Eleanor her dignity and independence to remain at home residing with and under her daughter Ellie's supervision and natural care-giving. Recognition is also extended to Consumer Directed Services, Primary Care Doctors, Visiting Nurse Services Care Team, for their diligence and care of Eleanor for the past few years, and her Managed Long-Term Care Team, and both of her day program group settings: Key to Independent Living and Guildcare.

Eleanor enjoyed herself each, and every day, at day program. Although it was sometimes a challenge to get her up and going each morning, the big "social butterfly" in her kept her motivated. She is very independent, and a bit stubborn, but with a little encouragement and persuasion she got into the groove of wanting to get up and go every day. She was quite witty and funny. Folks at program, her family and friends enjoyed her company. She never complained and was always sharing and caring. She wanted to share her food at program with others at the table, and that is against the rules. Although, she was very much into rules, if you knew her, taking her food was not a "good" thing at all. She was not pleased about that, as she did not think she was doing anything wrong by sharing with others, which always came natural to her.

Eleanor enjoyed going to Saratoga Race track in August She enjoyed socializing, listening to music and Rush Limbaugh, talking with others, dancing, laughing and smiling. Eleanor always remembered to let others know what they meant to her and how much she appreciated all that they did for her. In the most recent weeks, and even up until the time she passed, she thanked and expressed her gratitude and love, to each one of her Personal Assistants, her daughter Ellie, as well as the staff at Ellis Hospital.

Eleanor was a stay-at-home Wife, Mother and Home-Maker. She took great pride in hosting holidays with family and friends, and what feasts they were. Each year she would bake Birthday cakes for her children from scratch. Her doors were always open. Her children's friends would visit often and listen to her advice. She was a loving, kind, and strong woman filled with wisdom. Eleanor had a big heart filled with love. She always meant well.

Eleanor was a loving daughter to her parents, who were always at her home with her husband and children for every one of their celebrations. Lucy, Al, Joe and Ellie, grew up loving their grand-parents, enjoying weekends and summer vacations with them and received all their love in return. Their great Aunts, Grandmother's sisters, would occasionally visit from out of town, and then the house was filled with much more Love, Joy, Laughter and a whole bunch of FUN. Eleanor fostered in her children to have a respect towards others, especially for their elders, to enjoy life, and be responsible adults, but more than anything she always wanted her children to stick together. She her husband, along with her children Lucy, Al, Joe and Ellie visited, Agnes and William Maynard at their home for family gatherings. Eleanor had a giving heart to all, and wherever she went people adored her. She was always offering a helping hand to others, and assisted others when needed.

Calling hours will be from 4–7 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church 1241 State Street, Schenectady, NY;
followed by interment at Evergreen Memorial Park, Central Avenue, Colonie NY.
