ALBANY, NY – Eleanor Turner Poskanzer, 72, passed away peacefully at her home on December 25th with family close by.

Born January 4, 1948, to Elizabeth and Howard Turner, Eleanor (Ellie) graduated from Colonie Central High School and then Hudson Valley Community College with a degree in Nursing. She served as a R.N. at Albany's Stratton V.A. Medical Center and Memorial Hospital. Following her marriage to Dr. Charles L. A devoted wife and mother, she energetically encouraged her children to explore all types of activities and supported their interests in music, dance, soccer games, and more. She served as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader for several years, as well as the nurse at the Girl Scouts' Camp Is-Sho-Da for a couple seasons. Later in her career she worked for New York State's Office of Temporary Disability Assistance and, before retiring, at Alfred's Fabric Center for several years where she enjoyed using her substantial sewing expertise to help customers fulfill their creative vision.

She dedicated many years caring for her husband before his in death in 2017, and enjoyed traveling to visit her children whenever possible, especially to escape the cold winters of the Northeast. She was an avid reader and animal lover. She cultivated a backyard habitat ideal for birdwatching and enjoyed her urban wildlife oasis.

She is predeceased by her parents and her husband, and survived by her children Sarah Poskanzer Fuller of Winthrop, Maine, Richard Poskanzer (Shelbie Jasper Poskanzer) of Camarillo, California, and stepson Michael Poskanzer of Albany. The family extends their gratitude to the of Albany Medical Center's Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, and Oncology departments, New York Oncology and Hematology, and Community Hospice for their care and support.

There will be no services at this time due to her wishes and consideration of the health and safety of friends and family.
