COLONIE – Eleanor Morgan Shoudy, 87, of Colonie, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at St. Peter's Hospital. She was born in Amenia, NY on September 20, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Harry B. Morgan and Mabel Farrington Morgan. Eleanor was a graduate of Amenia High School and Albany Business College. She was first employed by Albany Felt Co., now Albany International, for five years until 1944, when she married Corporal Andrew J. Shoudy, Jr. When Eleanor's father passed away, both Andrew and Eleanor found themselves running her father's cider and vinegar manufacturing business. They returned to Albany in 1948 and purchased a house on Reber Street in Colonie. In 1958, Eleanor was asked to be the first in-house church secretary at Lisha's Kill Reformed Church where she also taught Sunday School for over 40 years. After working for ten years at the church, she then went to work for the Town of Colonie until her retirement in 1987. Eleanor was a member of the Colonie Elks Ladies Auxiliary, Lisha's Kill Senior Citizens Club and Club 55 at the church. Eleanor was predeceased by her beloved husband, Andrew in 1973. She is survived by her devoted children, Harry M. (Rosey) Shoudy of Lake Gaston, NC, Andrea S. (John) McConnelee of Glenville and Thomas A. (Mary Ann) Shoudy of Niskayuna. She is the cherished grandmother of Michael M. and Thomas W. Shoudy, Neil A. McConnelee and Megan M. Soden, and David A. and Matthew T. Shoudy. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren. Eleanor was predeceased by her long time friend, Lawrence (Oach) Reichert.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday morning at 10:00 at Lisha's Kill Reformed Church. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Memory's Garden. At Eleanor's request and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lisha's Kill Reformed Church, 2131 Central Ave., Schenectady, NY 12304 in memory of Eleanor Morgan Shoudy.
