LOUDONVILLE – Elinor A. O'Brien, 86, of Delray Beach, Fla. and Loudonville, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2007 at her home.
She was born on January 27, 1921 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Edward P. and Veronica M. Hennessy Armstrong. She was also predeceased by her brother, Edward P. Armstrong Jr., her sister, Lois Armstrong Keil, her son, James B. O'Brien III and her niece, Barbara A. Killough.
She graduated from Cathedral in Albany and attended Skidmore College and Mildred Elley. She married James B. O'Brien, Jr. on March 21, 1942. For El and Jay, the honeymoon never ended. They shared such a loving, full and wonderful life together until Jay's passing in August 1995. As witnessed by family and friends and anyone who knew them, this was marriage at its best. Elinor was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of Wolferts Roost Country Club and of Delray Dunes in Boynton Beach, Fla.
Elinor is survived by her daughter, Mary Pat (Len Parker) Chamberlain; cousins, Miriam Feldman, Shirley Armstrong and Harold Kircher; nephews, Robert and Matthew Killough and John Keil; nieces, Katie Kelly, Kimberly Becker and Debbie Almy; great-niece, Madeleine Becker Killough; great-nephew, Henry Becker Killough and several other nieces and nephews and many many beloved friends locally and in Florida. She was also survived by her beloved and devoted labradoodle, Daisy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd., Loudonville. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont. Calling hours will be at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
