ROTTERDAM – Elizabeth August, 84, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014 at home. Born December 14, 1929 in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Margaret Rosenberger.
Elizabeth, known as "Liz" by many, worked for the New York State Health Department at Griffen Labs for 16 years. She was a member of the CSEA Labor Union and the Rotterdam Women's Club. Liz enjoyed baseball, specifically the LA Dodgers. She liked doing puzzles, spending time with her two grandchildren, and was an animal lover.
Along with her parents, Liz was predeceased by her husband, Ivar "Rudy" August, and her sister Frederica George.
She will be missed by her son, Carl August, and his wife Susan of Rotterdam; grandchildren, Patricia and Carl, Jr., of Rotterdam; niece Jean Lawlor and her husband Pat, and nephew Fred George and his wife, Sheila.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 in Liz's name.
