Schenectady- Elizabeth "Betty" J. Couser ,92, passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital on October 29th, 2024. As a life-long resident of Albany, Elizabeth retired from the New York State Capitol in 1994 after many dedicated years. She spent her retirement along side her family doing what she loved most, watching her grandchildren grow. Throughout her life Elizabeth was known to make any occasion magical, especially holidays, which were always filled with food and family. The love and kindness she radiated, no matter her own circumstances, is something that will always be reflected through her loved ones. Her gentle and gracious ways will be instilled upon future generations, along with her garlic coleslaw and traditional bread stuffing, which the family will continue to use as a form of initiation to welcome new members.
Elizabeth is survived by her children Jerry (Danielle) Couser, Arthur Couser, Kathy (Kelly) Wagoner, Frances (Tom) Stack, and daughter-in-law Theresa Couser. As well as her grandchildren Heather (George) Galib, Lisa Couser, Melissa (Mike) Ketzer, Christopher Stack, Kristen (Timothy) Carkner, and her great-grandchildren Emma, Lucas, Kafena, Aiden, Adelynn, and Skylar whom she deeply adored. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was reunited with her predeceased son David Winnie, her sister Mary Burnetter, and her parents Joseph and Catherine Koonz.The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Peter's Hospital and Hospice Inn for the kindness and compassion shown to Elizabeth and her family.
The family would also like to thank Elizabeth’s good friends Mary, Doris and John at Carondelet Commons Senior Apartments.A visitation for Elizabeth will be held at 9:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy-Schenectady Rd, Watervliet New York 12189.
