Elizabeth "Betty" Sitterly

Albany- Elizabeth "Betty" Sitterly, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2016. Born in Albany on September 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Springer. She was predeceased by her brother Lawrence Springer of Albany.
Betty is survived by her husband of 64 years Robert Sitterly; her dear sons: John (Debra), Alan (Cathy), Douglas (Carol) and Dan (Kym); her grandchildren: Robert J., Heather, Holly, Lauren, Alessandra and Richard Sitterly; her great-grandchildren: Selene, Kira, and Maggie; her sister Rosemary Godoy and nephew Joseph Godoy.
Betty's family wishes to thank Dr. N. Patel of Community Care, Delmar for his compassionate care.
Betty worked as a school crossing guard in Albany and for Albany County. She enjoyed watching the grandkids and great-grandkids growing up, baking cookies over the holidays and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed vacationing in Wells, Maine and in the Adirondacks.
Visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am on Tuesday September 20 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 11 am. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to the Wounded Warriors or St. Judes.
