Elizabeth "Betty" Chalachanis, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 29, 2012. Betty was born in Albany to the late Constantine and Marika Merdidis. In addition to her parents Betty was predeceased by her husband Jimmy.
She was the sole proprietor of Andy's Lunch, Krusi Ave., Schenectady; she was also employed with Golub Corp for many years. She was friendly, outgoing, loved by all, enjoyed dancing and was always the life of the party. Betty's grandchildren Andrew and Alexis were the loves of her life.
Betty is survived by her cherished children Andrew and Marina (Robert) Pugliese. She is the adored "Yia Yia" of Andrew and Alexis, the sister of Olga Janow, she is also survived by several nieces, nephews, her dearest long life friend Jack Williams and an abundance of dear friends for over 77 years.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, 440 Whitehall Road, Albany, NY in Betty's memory.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 10:00 am at St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, 440 Whitehall Road, Albany, NY. Interment will follow the service at Parkview Cemetery.
