Elizabeth M. Cosgrave, 82, of Schenectady, New York passed away peacefully at her home with her daughters by her side on Monday, October 28, 2024 after several months of illness.
Elizabeth was born in the Bronx, the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Rosenstine on March 27, 1942.
After school, she met her first husband while working in Troy in her late teens. She worked until she was 21 years old when she became a mom. During the birth of her 5 children, she remained a homemaker until her early 40s. At that time, she began helping the elderly with their homes, cleaning and cooking for them. Because she loved being able to help the elderly, she decided to become a home health aide with Adept Health Care Service until she was 75 years old.
Elizabeth was a caring, nurturing woman who would give the shirt off her own back. Her children always came first in her life. She was a good listener and full of support for them. Elizabeth met the love of her life, Leo J. Cosgrave, Jr in 1983 and they were happily married for 38 years. In her spare time, she loved bingo, casino and garage sales. Elizabeth loved traveling with her husband, Leo to many places including her favorite, Myrtle Beach.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her first husband, George Y. Manzer; her second husband, Leo J. Cosgrave, Jr.; her siblings, Frank and Albert Rosenstine; and her daughter, Elizabeth Joanne Manzer.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Brenda Manzer Salway, Deborah Manzer (John Mott), Annette “Toni” Manzer (Luis Rodriguez), and Sandra Cosgrave (Peter); stepchildren, Kathleen Ivinski (the late John), Elizabeth Wittmann (Bill), Patrick Cosgrave, Matthew Cosgrave (Heather) and Peter Cosgrave (Sandra); 9 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
