NORDGREN, ELIZABETH
Elizabeth Foster Nordgren, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Ellis hospital with her family by her side.
Liz was born in Buffalo New York to the late Thomas Jefferson Foster, Jr. and Elizabeth "Dolly" (Leach) Foster.
She earned three Masters Degrees; two from Russell Sage College in Early Education and Special Education and the third was a Master of Divinity at McCormick and Bangor seminaries.
Liz spent her whole life serving and worshiping GOD. Her spirituality would shine through in everything she did. She passionately taught Art to children at Mohonasen School District. After retiring from teaching she became a minister. She served at the Standish Congregational Church in Standish, Maine.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Nori Lynn (Anthony) Giacchetta; she is the cherished grandmother of Elizabeth Rachel and Leah Rose Giacchetta. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Diane Foster Balmer and John Morrison Balmer and their children, John, Kevin, Ellen and David.
The family would like to thank Liz's caregivers Shannie, and the staff at Home Instead, the staff at Glendale Rehabilitation Center, the nurses, doctors and aides at Ellis A6, Dr. George Giokas and the palliative care team at Ellis and all of Nori's hospice friends and colleagues for the care given to Liz and the kindness and support given to her and her family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice, in memory of Liz's giving spirit.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Boothbay Harbor, Maine where she was ordained as a minister.
