Elizabeth G. Fisher, 88 of Schenectady ascended to heaven on Thursday, November 26th 2009 at the Northeast Center for Special Care in Lake Katrine, New York, following a courageous battle, since August. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, daughter of the late, John and Elizabeth Angus of Rotterdam. "Betty" as she was referred to, graduated from Draper High School. Her strong witty character allowed for many great stories to be shared along with a self less reputation for her generosity. She was gifted at making people laugh, and truly understood the meaning of, "the best things in life are free". She was dedicated to working with children of all ages throughout her life. She was admired for the work she did at the area Children Shelter's , with positions ranging from acting Administrator, House Mother, to Head Cook at Schenectady Children's Shelter, Schenectady Boy's Home and Charlton School for Girls. The love she had for all living things was clearly visible with her green thumb for her plants, love for animals, and predominantly children. Her character was always caring and kind, fast to offer encouragement. A loving nurturing woman who wanted nothing more than to be with her family. She loved to watch cooking shows and create fabulous meals; often she could be spotted writing down a recipe or clipping out a recipe from a magazine. A deeply religious person, who became wheel chair bound at retirement. Her faith of the lord never faltered, spending hours a day in prayer. She was happiest in her home with her family surrounding her, especially her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Orville F. Fisher, and brother, William Angus of Burnt Hills. She is survived by her two children, Robert F. Fisher, of Schenectady and Linda E.
