Elizabeth Grimaldi

Glenmont- Elizabeth Ann Grimaldi passed away peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 17, 1936 in Astoria, Queens, daughter of the late Hans Weigel and Mildred Palozzi Weigel, Elizabeth worked as a copy editor at McGraw Hill and later, after receiving her Master's degree in English Literature at Stony Brook University, a teacher. She was a world traveler, had a lifelong passion for learning, and was a prolific reader and writer. Elizabeth will also be remembered for her curiosity, kindness, and compassion.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her loving husband, Rev. Rocco P. Grimaldi. She is survived by her children: Deanne Grimaldi (Douglas Johnson), Stephen Grimaldi (Jessica Keuskamp), and Deborah Grimaldi-Zeh (David Zeh); her grandchildren: Ella and Dylan Grimaldi-Johnson, Abel and Hanna Grimaldi, Rocco Zeh; and her siblings: Ruth Walker, William Weigel (Carole) and Eric Weigel (Joanne). Elizabeth was predeceased by her sisters, Anita Howard and Barbara Weigel, and her niece, Kim Walker.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Elizabeth's life on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 1 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A calling period will commence at 11:30 a.m. A private burial will be held at Holy Spirit Lutheran Cemetery, Glenmont.
