Elizabeth (Hohenstein) Kunker, 90, went home to be with Jesus Thursday March 19, 2009. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Elizabeth was born in Albany, NY the daughter of the late Phillip and Amelia Hohenstein and was a lifelong area resident. She worked for Stanley Home Products for 18 years and then worked for Bank of New York retiring after 12 years. She enjoyed arts and crafts and was an avid reader. Elizabeth was a member of Pineview Community Church, Bethlehem Senior Citizens and the Thursday Women's Bible Study. Elizabeth married Richard C. Kunker in 1940, he passed away in 1992.
She is survived by her 7 children: Richard (Marie) Kunker, Sandra (Bud) Maurer, Judith (Skip) Meisner, Susan (Rex) Gregory, Kenneth (Toni) Kunker, Karl (Judy) Kunker and Karen (James) Gorman, 40 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings: Ruth Haire, Willard Hohenstein and Arline Colls.
Her family would like to thank Community Hospice of Albany for the exceptional care shown to Betty and the family, donations welcomed.
Funeral services are Tuesday 10:30am at Pineview Community Church, 251 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany. Calling hours are Monday 4:00 to 7:00pm at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.). Interment at Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, NY.
