ALBANY - Elizabeth M. Gonyea, 86, of Albany, died Sunday, April 8, 2007 after a long illness with Alzheimer's. Born in Albany on September 28, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret Fisk. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Andrew William Gonyea and three of her five children, Andrew Walter Gonyea, Judith Allen, and Richard Gonyea and her sister, Marguerite Fisk Fisher Evans.
Betty was a graduate of St. Ann's High School. She worked for the Convent of the Sacred Heart and later, the State of New York from which she reitired. She was better know as "Betty Boop" who loved bowling, bingo, playing the piano and driving in her red convertible. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Betty is survived by her children, Joanne Mueller and her husband, Frederick of Loudonville and Brian Gonyea of Saratoga; ten grandchildren, Joanne Hanson, Randolph Mueller, Andrew Gonyea, Michelle Gonyea, Eric Gonyea, Vicky Greene, Richard Dingman, Becky Holt, Richard Scott Gonyea and Tracey Gonyea and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Carol Gonyea, son-in-law, Larry Allen and a niece, Mary Fisher Durocher and her husband, Peter.
Funeral services 9 a.m. Wednesday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
