ALBANY, NY
Elizabeth "Betty" Vet passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn. Born in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Antonette and Salvatore DeFilipo.
After retiring at 62 from a lengthy career in women's fashions, Betty began a second career that lasted 25 years as a noon hour aide with the Bethlehem Central School District at Elsmere School doing what she loved dearly…working with young children.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Newton, who died in 1978, her brothers Anthony, Joseph, Luigi and Salvatore DeFilipo, and her sister Louise Criscone.
Survivors include her children Susan (Thomas) Cunningham of Slingerlands, NY and Joseph (Maureen) Vet of Scottsdale, AZ, her grandchildren Mark (Karen) and Scott (Sara) Cunningham, Joseph (Tracy) and Jeremy Vet, Jennifer (Dennis) Leonard, her step grandchildren Jill (George) Penn, Stacey (Chris) Gotski, Kara (Joseph) Ricupero. Also survived by her sister Viola DeMarco and several great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on, Monday October 21, 2013 at 9:00am at All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to call at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY on Sunday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
