BEAVERTON, OREGON---- Tuesday, May 3, 2022, Ellen Marcia (Frink) Casey, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away in Beaverton, Oregon, surrounded by her family.
Born in Sandy Hill, NY on March 15th, 1947, Ellen was the second daughter of the late Edgar and Natalie (Guyot) Frink. Ellen grew up in Albany, NY and graduated from Vincentian Institute. She went to work at Livermore Chevrolet where she met her husband Al, and they were married on April 2nd 1966. Ellen and Al resided in East Greenbush for many years. In retirement they lived in Latham, and then most recently they moved to Oregon to help care for their grandson.
Across her life, Ellen worked as a bookkeeper to several businesses including the Mobil and Shell gas stations run by her husband, Caruso, Rinella, & Battaglia of Menands, and the 21 Club restaurant in Albany. She also worked in the eye office of Drs. Harold Hoffman and Robert Silverman. Yet, the job title she took the most pride in was that of "Mom". She made sure she was home when her kids were home, providing after school babysitting for the children of friends and neighbors, while her own children were in grade school.
Ellen was an outstanding woman, wife, and mother who through her years loved and laughed with anyone that was fortunate enough to share time with her. She was a caring and incredibly generous person. She provided her family with consideration for their feelings before her own, and never settled for laziness or disrespect.
Ellen was kind to everyone who came through her door and displayed a high level of empathy and compassion toward anyone who needed it. She loved to talk and have coffee with her friends, read, sew, dance, play pinochle, visit casinos, dote on her grandkids, and she enthusiastically attended countless soccer games. Ellen was the quintessential 'team mom' always looking out for the best interests of others bringing snacks, gifts, or whatever she saw a need to provide. She found joy in cooking, maintaining a particularly clean home, and spending time with Al. Ellen possessed a quick wit, exceptional emotional intelligence, an infectious smile, and fierce loyalty to those she loved. For all of these things, she will be deeply missed.
Ellen leaves behind her husband Albert, her daughter Kathleen (Kelly) Evanoff, her son Gregory (Jessica) Casey, and two grandchildren, Addison Casey Evanoff and Kai Whalen Casey. Ellen also leaves behind her sister N. Marie Tenney and her nieces, nephews, and their families.
A brief prayer service with a visitation following will be held from 1 to 3 pm on June 18th, at the Newcomer Funeral Home at 343 New Karner Road in Colonie, NY.
