Colonie- Elma Mae Peters, 85, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening at her residence. She was born in Albany and the daughter of the late Emerson and Emma Wagner.
A longtime resident of Albany and graduate of Albany High School, Elma moved to Colonie in 1991. She had worked for thirty years with New York Telephone Company, retiring in 1984. Elma was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
The family wishes to offer a special thanks to the Eddy Visiting Nurse Association, Craig Ritchie, NP and David Hornick, MD for their compassion and professional care. A heartfelt thank you to Colonie Police and EMS for their kindness and support during a very difficult time.
Elma is the beloved wife of 61 years to Robert W. Peters. Elma is the devoted mother of Robert L. (Susan) Peters and Elizabeth (Betty) Bertrand (Daniel). She is the grandmother of Philip E. Peters (Kara), Charles F. Peters (Lisa), Michael P. Mason and Jennifer E. Peters. Elma is the great grandmother of Kirk, Alivia and Lucas Peters. She is the sister of Louis (Mary) Wagner and Margaret (Peg) J. Gavigan and the late Emerson Wagner.. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Calling hours will Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 21 Hackett Blvd. Albany, The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 11:00 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 21 Hackett Blvd. Albany, NY 12208 in memory of Elma Mae Peters.
