BILOXI, MS. – Elmer Evans, 84, of Sprakers, NY passed away on Tuesday August 2, 2011 in Biloxi, Mississippi.
He was born in New York and was the son of the late Charles and Emily Evans. Elmer served in the US Army during WWII. He was an HVAC installer with the Roland J. Down Company for over 27 years. Elmer enjoyed traveling in their motor home, camping, hunting and fishing. For many years he enjoyed co-hosting the Charlton "Flyin" of paraplanes & ultralites, held at his home in Charlton.
Elmer was predeceased by his son's Wayne Elmer Evans and Todd Jason Evans.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Slemons Evans. He is the father of Darlene (Clayton) Cederholm of British Columbia, Canada, Duane Evans of Ballston Spa, Janice (Mark) Schmitz of North Carolina, Patty (Wladimir) Nedo of Broadalbin and Kelly (Michael) Revette of Schenectady. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday August 12th at 12 noon at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Jonesville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
