ALBANY, NY – Elmer R. Adriance, 88, passed away peacefully at his home, on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Charles and Ruth Adriance. He was a longtime resident of Albany. Elmer was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II as a Waist Gunner on a B17. During one of his training missions, his plane crashed, ending his Army career. Mr. Adriance was the treasure and a team manager of the Westland Hills Little League for 45years. He was a Master Mason with the Master's Lodge #5, a member of the Scottish Rite and the Night Owls. He was on the Director's Staff of the Cyprus Temple Shriner's and a past member of the Albany Shrine Club and the Retirement Men's Fraternity. Elmer was a member of the Polish American Citizens Club (P.A.C.C.) and a life member of both the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192 and the American Legion Nathaniel A. Blanchard Post #1040. Elmer is the beloved husband of 63 years to Ruth L. Adriance. He is the devoted father of Charles (Janet) Adriance of Middleburgh and John (Maureen) Adriance of Colonie. He is the cherished grandfather of Thomas Adriance and loving great-grandfather of Morgan Adriance. Elmer is the brother-in-law of Henrietta Conney and Joseph Rosano. He is the uncle of Ruth (Brian) Reilly and Joseph (Becky) Rosano. Also surviving are the many friends he gathered over his 45 years with Westland Hills Little League as well as many, many close and special friends. In addition to his parents, Elmer was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Rosano.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Albany Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104 in memory of Elmer R. Adriance.
