WATERVLIET, NY - Elmer E. Washburn, 88, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born June 12, 1929 in Albany, he was the son of the late J. Frank and Mabel (Wilson) Washburn.
He was a contract mail carrier for many years. Elmer was a member of the National Star Route Mail Contractors Association. Elmer was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country during the Korean War. Elmer was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by many.
Elmer was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary (Crosier) Washburn; his siblings, Jean Washburn, Frankie Washburn and David Washburn.
Elmer is survived by his children, Cynthia (David) Swota of Gansevoort, Donna (Randy) Morgan of Ballston Spa, J. Frank (Sandy) Washburn of Hoosick Falls, Barry (Patty) Washburn of Gansevoort and Andrew (Barbara) Washburn of Melrose. Also surviving are his brother, Lawrence Washburn and nine cherished grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will Thursday, February 8, 2018 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
