Elsie M. Ellis

ALBANY – Elsie M. Ellis, 69, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Community Hospice of Albany at Albany Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Elsie was born on September 7, 1940 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Iris J. Crawford. She was also predeceased by her brother, Jesse Nance and one son, Zachary T. Ellis.
Elsie leaves to cherish her memory five children, daughter, Charity Crawford of Schenectady, daughter, Elder JoAnne Ellis Scott of Richmond, VA, son, James (Gloria) Ellis Jr. of Davenport, IA, son, Timothy Ellis of Albany and devoted daughter, Stephanie (Jermaine) Reid of Albany; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Elsie also leaves one sister, Evelyn C. (Charles) Queen of Washington, DC; three brothers, Juno Jackson of Atlanta, GA., James Warner of Troy and Robert Warner of Albany, and one aunt, Princess Fludd of Albany. Elsie also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves one close and devoted friend, Shirley (Alfred) Hunter and long-time neighborhood friends.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). A calling hour will precede the service from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
