TROY- Elsie T. Schneider, 81, of Troy, passed away on Friday November 14, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness. She was born in Watervliet and was the daughter of the late Fay and Evon Couture Maple.
Elsie was a machine operator for 28 years at the former Norton Company, Coated Abrasives Division, retiring several years ago.
She is the devoted wife of 62 years to Louis G. Schneider. She is the beloved mother of Lou (Mary Jo) Schneider and Paul (Kari) Schneider. She is the cherished grandmother of Brooke, Joey and Lindsay Schneider and our angel, the late Arica Lynn Schneider. We know she is now reunited with her beautiful angel Arica that she has missed so very much. We take comfort in knowing they will be together on Arica's 25th Birthday on November 18th. Elsie is the sister of Loretta Tarasewich and the late Mary Jordan, Lorraine Dugan, Pat Blair, Sonny Maple and Joseph Maple. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Jordon Hospital in Plymouth, MA, especially Patti DeAngelo, the staff of Massachusetts General Hospital, the staff on 5 North at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy and Dr. Roglieri for all of the excellent care given to Elsie during her illness
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 8:45 at Doran Funeral Home, 9 So. Lake Ave. Troy, then to Our Lady of Victory Church at 9:30 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 99 Troy Rd. East Greenbush, NY 12061 in memory of Elsie T. Schneider
