Rotterdam- Elva P. Clute, 81, died on Sunday, July 1, 2007, at St. Clare's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Frances DesChenes. She retired as office manager from the Carl Company in Rotterdam. Elva loved camping, country music and ceramics, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family. Elva is predeceased by her sister Gertrude Schindler.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, George Clute of Rotterdam, daughter, Pauline Jansen (William) of Glenville, and son, George James Clute (Lorraine) of Colonie. She is the grandmother of Lisa Day, William Jansen, Amy Kimball and Jennifer Phelps, and the great-grandmother of Sarah and Matthew Higgins, Jocelyn Kimball and Eric Phelps. Elva is also survived by a brother Jean DesChenes of Florida and nephews Robert and Gary DesChenes.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 in memory of Elva P. Clute.
