COLONIE – Elwood "Woody" Rhinehart, 86 passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2006 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Woody was born on January 20, 1920 in Schenectady and was the son of the late, Ralph and Myrtle Ferris Rhinehart. He served in the US Navy during WWII attaining the rank of Petty Officer First Class, serving on the USSLST722.
Woody worked as a sales representative for General Electric in Schenectady in the gas turbine department for over 40 years before retiring in 1983. In his retired years, Woody dedicated his life to family. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a volunteer fireman at the Stanford Heights Fire Department.
Woody is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Rhinehart; his daughters, Debbie (Tony) Audi and Linda (Bill) Hitchcock; his sister, Bernice Rhinehart; his grandchildren, Mark and Cheryl Audi and Sarah and Billy Hitchcock; and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Louise Harbison and his brother, Ferris Rhinehart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon Tuesday at St. Clare's Church, Colonie, all are invited to attend. Interment will follow at Memory's Garden. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 in memory of Elwood "Woody" Rhinehart.
