Elwyn (Al) Renaud, 90, of Glenville, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Ellis Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born on November 18, 1933, in Whitehall, NY, to the late Elwyn & Aline (Brousseau) Renaud.
Elwyn served in the Army receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1955. He joined the Albany Fire Department in October 1961, retiring in June 1992 after 30 years. Elwyn was proud to serve the citizens of Albany.
Elwyn enjoyed bowling, garage sales, fishing & travelling to Florida with his wife of 52 years, Rosemary. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, brother, uncle & friend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know and love him.
Elwyn is survived by his children, John (Sarah) Renaud, Rosemarie Renaud, Brenda Cruz, Yvonne Riccobono, Wayne (Laura) Renaud, Chester (Sharon) Renaud and Steven Renaud; his 22 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Joan (Marvin) McIntyre, Dorothy Laeyt, Faye Renaud, brother Francis (Lynne) Renaud, 4 sister-in-laws, 5 brother-in-law and many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary and son Prentiss (Peter) Renaud; his brother Robert Renaud, and sisters, Elinore Brown, Helen Renaud and Lorraine Jones; his son-in-law Thomas Riccobono; his grandson Jason Renaud and great grandson John Lowe.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4:00pm - 6:30 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. The Albany Fire Department, APPFAVA, will be conducting a brief service in honor of Mr. Renaud's dedication and service to the community as a Fireman, which will take place at 5:00pm. At 6:30pm we will begin a Time of Remembrance, and the family is inviting anyone to share a memory or story at this time. A Funeral Service for Elwyn will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 10:00am in the Funeral Home. Entombment will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery immediately following services.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request a donation to the Alzheimer Association.
