Elza Heilbrun Corlett died at Evergreen Commons, Tuesday, November 2, 2010. She was born in Buffalo, New York on August 21, 1914, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Bertha (Slohm) Heilbrun. After attending Cornell University for one year during the Depression, Elza returned to Buffalo and attended University of Buffalo. During World War II, she worked in the War Office in Washington D.C. She worked as a legal secretary for the Buffalo law firm Moot Sprague for over twenty –two years. She also worked hard as a farm wife on the family dairy farm in Holland, New York. In her retirement she volunteered at the Brewster Ladies Library in Massachusetts, and at the Menands Public Library. She was a volunteer tax preparer for AARP in Colonie for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Robert J. Corlett; and by her daughter, Brenda Corlett Hasegawa. She is survived by her son, Roger (Joyce) Corlett and granddaughter, Kara, of Hamburg, New York; and by her daughter, Margaret (Rene`) Meierhans, of East Greenbush; granddaughters, Emily Meierhans, of East Greenbush, Lauren Vigna, and great-grandson, Miles, of New Paltz, New York; and by her grandson Robert (Rose Gowen) Hasegawa and great grandchildren, Ray and Beatrice Hasegawa of Rochester, New York.
Elza's family would like to give sincere thanks to Evergreen Commons, One Schodack Square, and the Therapy Department for their professional, respectful and loving care.
