Emile Eugene Jacquet, 87, of Niskayuna, passed away after an extended illness, on August 9th, 2023.
Born in Surigao Del Norte, Philippines on March 28th, 1936, he was the son of Georges Jacquet and Olivia Delubio Jacquet. He studied theology at Southern Christian College, Silliman University, The Ecumenical Institute in Bossey Switzerland, and the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. He dedicated his life to Christian ministry, serving with the United Church of Christ for over 40 years. His assignments included Reeseville, Wisconsin, Greene, New York, and Ansonia, Connecticut. After his retirement from full-time ministry, he happily served several Capital Region congregations on an interim basis. Emile was the master of all things pork, protector of all creatures (including spiders, to the dismay of his daughters) and advocate for the underdog and down-trodden; he was, without a doubt, the best dad, grandfather, and husband, with extensive experience in grilling great chicken, telling silly jokes and insisting on pointing out where the light was to the babies. His family was often astounded and embarrassed by his magical ability to have a conversation with literally anyone, tell them where he was from and find a common thread. His source material was vast and included early Christian text, vintage Star Trek, Brett Favre-era Green Bay Packers and the Peanuts comic strip.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Emma Lorin. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 52.98 years, Seija Anneli Jacquet; their children, Andre Jacquet of Ithaca, NY, Marisa (Colin) Thomas of Milwaukee, WI, Stefan Jacquet of Niskayuna, NY, and Kirsten (Seth) Caldon of Peru, NY; and eight grandchildren, Oliver Jacquet, Emma, Lucy and Henri Thomas, and Levi, Finn, Wyatt, and Aila Caldon. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 17th, at 11 am at the Cobblestone Church, 118 Putnam Road, Schenectady, NY with Reverend Marjorie Price officiating. Reception for family and friends at the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your local church in his name, or an anonymous good deed in his honor.
